social-media-According to public relations firm Future Works, there are more women than men on social networking sites.  57% of Facebook users are women and females make up 64% of MySpace users. There have been other studies confirming that married women between the ages of 35 and 50 are the fastest growing segment of social media users, while men in this age group aren't joining social sites at all.  Women's behavior online tends to be relationship-driven and men's behavior is geared towards transactional types of tools.  Women are more likely than men to spend time communicating online with friends and using online profiles to share pictures and news with people,  making social sites more desirable to women. There seems to be consensus that the future of social media will be geared towards women.  Marketing dollars spent trying to acquire a female user will go a lot further than on a male user.
