In its first 21 days, Google+ boasted 20 million unique visitors, according to comScore. Initial reports show the majority of traffic coming from the U.S. (27% of total) and the 19-34 age demographic representing 58% of visitors. The WHY behind Google+

The Google+ Project was born to fill a perceived niche in the social media platform landscape—to create a way for people to connect with other people online in a more natural and “real-life” manner. Google explains in their 6/28/11 blog post introducing Google+, "Today, the connections between people increasingly happen online. Yet the subtlety and substance of real-world interactions are lost in the rigidness of our online tools.” Google+ is their solution to this missing element of online social sharing.
